Based on this discussion, my current conclusion is:
- Visually similar symbols like
0x0B05or0xBE05might be appealing and intuitive to anyone who is familiar with the history of Haiku, OpenBeOS, and BeOS. 5038(or0x5038as a hexUSHORT), on the other hand, while not seeming obvious, has appeared in official media by BeOS, and is endorsed by community members who have spent a lot of their time using and building Haiku.
For magic values like this, I personally prefer something with a deeper back story. Therefore, if there are no further votes, I will soon modify this PR to use 0x5038 ![]()
