[FIXED QMPLAY2 issue] Thanks to released latest yt_dlp package - 2025.01.12-1-any

Ahoy maintainer(s) of Qmplay2 and yt_dlp !

As I wrote in the title…
thank you for released the latest
yt_dlp_2025.01.12-1-any.hpkg
package
as it resolved the Youtube play issue in Qmplay2.
It is especially important on Haiku, as
we cannot use VLC on Haiku for this ad free play method,
as youtube.luac containig directory is configured to be on
the read-only application storage place, so it cannot be
refreshed from Github to follow youtube modifications.

Fortunately there is Qmplay2 to subtitute this, even serve with a convenient download/convert option for videos as well.

I constantly refresh packages almost per day, and I live on Nightly, so I accept if an application does not work correctly. This way I had not worried so much when Youtube videos which were shared to watch or podcasts I follow cannot be played in it, but in the browser, where some beginning ads cannot be gotten out, just skip after some secs … but finally I wanted to try an action before I ask about it here :

  • Is there anyone experienced so, that playing of videos stops lately before start to playing in Qmplay ?
So browsing worked, but playing itself always stopped.

I turned to Beta5 64 bit install (hrev58359 +129), but I had the same issue there with Qmplay2.

Then I probed to downgrade Qmplay2 on 64 bit Haiku Nightly
from 24.x version to a 23.x version but had not helped, also stopped playing.

Then I turned back to the other 2 Haiku installs on thumbdrives from I migrated to these twice capacity thumbdrives, and there worked as expected, however the Qmplay2 was 24.x version.

Facepalm - Qmplay2 use yt_dlp package to handle YT play.
I migrated more than one week before Christmas, so I might downloaded wrong fruit of yt_dlp.
It had worked during holidays,
even in the new year,
just gone wrong recently.

So I downgraded yt_dlp to a version what worked on these installs with newer version Qmplay2 on last 2025-01-16, in the night

It was yt_dlp-2024.11.18-1-any.hpkg, I had not care there were newer packages as well, and possibly only the latest was the rotten one.
Downgrade had done - Qmplay2 had worked - mission accomplished.

I waited for buildmaster finishes compiling, but finally I went to sleep - I had tired.
As I woke up I checked the packages availability and seen there is also new yt_:dlp as well …
Hmm somneone may recognized the issue and fixed the problem ?
Altogether with new Haiku version I installed this new yt_dlp package
yt_dlp-2025.01.12-1-any.hpkg <—

… and bumm - Qmplay2 worked again !..

So patience … we will get R1 this way !.. I’m sure in it.
:cowboy_hat_face:

Thanks again !
