I would be appreciated if someone would take a look at – I would avoid to open a ticket in Haiku Trac if it is not related to Haiku’s service or underlying stuffs development, as then that ticket would be closed as not related.
If I get advice it should be opened for fix a Haiku issue , I would assist to do so … also asking to help me to choose the proper category in that case.
On Haiku, for me, the browsers that don’t ever crash are the ones that don’t work well enough to be used to start with. But Falkon is the rare software that managed to crash Haiku itself on me.
The report shows the crash is in ssl stuff, and both the old and the new libraries appear in the images loaded. As noted in a message you responded to in your other topic, and explained in that thread, it needs to be rebuilt to load only the new library, it doesn’t seem anyone has gotten to do and share it.
At least one person contacted me in PM with a fixed version, with the switch to beta5 and openssl fixes going on I’ve not pushed an already prepared recipe for latest gear23 version, checking a last build to confirm (have been using it with beta4 for a while already) and will push in a bit.
Thanks , to all of you for your answers and help -
I updated my Haiku nightly and all available packages which were offered … just as I came home from work and checked forum for news.
I trust it again - seems fixed – as no crash happened.
Previously finally it was enough some mins to crash - just alone runnin’ was enough - it had not needed to touch it at all. I just not updated my initial post with this sad status.
Now I’m happy again - despite what @donn wrote above … Falkon rarely crashed for me and adblocking works fine. Not as good as Web did, but
unfortunately Web does not reliable anymore.
Since end of spring it crashes for me just as I launch any download. :S
