I noticed that some images and links on https://www.haiku-os.org/guides/virtualizing/virtualbox-windows-debugging are broken. What’s the best way to report this and can I help fixing it?
Website code is available at GitHub - haiku/website: The Haiku website. (Pull requests are accepted; please file issues at https://dev.haiku-os.org).

This looks like it’s my fault from many years ago.
I once was very active on the old Drupal website writing articles or acting as editor and publisher for others. Most of these articles have been deleted as out of date information, but there are a few that survive.
I had full editing power, but didn’t have the permission to upload files. Instead of bothering the admin team to upload a whole bunch of images, I just uploaded it to the Google Sites platform.
It looks like Google archived all Google Sites 1.0 websites a couple of years ago and also dramatically changed the way files are stored.
I have republished the site, but the change in storage format still means that the images do not show up. If anyone wants to fix it, the images can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/nyhusr/home/haiku-os-files/haikuarticles/virtualbox-windows-debugging
Uploading files to the new/current Haiku website isn’t different than getting text content merged,or getting the links fixed.
It would be nice to avoid relying on a third-party,especially such a unreliable and questionable one as Google,so I’d recommend that the files are put directly on the Haiku website when fixing the dead links.
richienyhuis already wrote above the why, and the how is also mot too bad. Anyone with a github account can fix it..
I’ve created a PR to fix those missing images and broken URL at VirtualBox Win Debug Guide: Fix images and links by humdingerb · Pull Request #727 · haiku/website · GitHub
Thanks Humdinger.
In case you missed it, there are a few other guides that have missing images because of this.
All of these can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1M26SH-xv145gT9buoPIrYOh6LbV2PxeN
Unfortunatly only when logging in with a google account…
I think the forum was corrupting the url when it was creating a preview for it.
It should be fixed now.
Thanks. Unfortunately a few images are still missing:
-
VBox Linux Debug:
https://sites.google.com/site/nyhusr/Home/haiku-os-files/haikuarticles/virtualbox-linux-debugging/image1.png -
Bochs:
Image3_0.pngImage4.png
If you can’t find those anymore, it can’t be helped. Maybe someone wants to re-create these guides and take missing screenshots.
The image from VBox Linux Debug is in the Wayback machine:
The Bochs article doesn’t seem to have dead links anymore (fixed already?),so I don’t see any links I could try in the Wayback Machine.
If you have the links,it’s worth a try.
Good call! Got all the images from Wayback Machine. ![]()
