The DataTranslations preferences can be powerful if I understand correctly the concept, however what kind of format does it handle today?
I can see only text/RTF format or image file format.
I’ve read that audio/video format is not handled via a datatranslator, is it correct ?
Audio and video use the Media Kit, not the Translation Kit. There isn’t a GUI showing the media decoders/encoders/extractors installed, but as ffmpeg is in use, nearly everything is supported.
At one stage, long ago, there was an experimental version of StyledEdit that could export to RTF. But it never was incorporated into the system, and that RTF translator has just been coasting along ever since.
But if you install GobeProductive (on a 32-bit system) you will see that it installs a lot of translators of its own, so the system can in fact be used for word processors, spreadsheets and presentation apps.
