This page shows that this app is modular, planned to provide different data analysis tools and finally a data editing tool which was never completed, supposedly more advanced than spreadsheets with support of special data types. This app previously gain data from text or gobe spreadsheets.
Given that our native spreadsheet software do not have advanced graph plotting functions (especially linear regression), can we extract something useful for extending functions in native spreadsheet or modernize it to establish connections with spreadsheets?
I don’t have PPC BeOS so I cannot try how Dataplus works. Have anyone ever tried it?
The archive is aimed at preserving BeOS PowerPC software with source. It might be permissive, it might not be, but given the author provided source, we can assume they intended it to be somewhat open. I’m going to be honest, I gathered a lot of files together, but other things came up and I have yet to sort through a lot of it.
I now have working hardware accessible to me again, so I will more than likely pick it up and go through the backlog. I also have to say that emulation is now viable through DingusPPC, so I may well be able to do this via my laptop. The plan was to test everything and put the source on the github for reference.
I don’t think that really helps you, but that is the situation anyway.
The ‘DataPlus.txt’ file in the ‘DataPlus_Docs’ folder in the archive say it is under a freeware license. It’s also mentioned they will consider requests for pieces of the source code for either personal or commercial purposes. I guess it would be best to try to contact the author first if that’s still possible to confirm it could be used.
Considering he was already a professor at Dept. of Laboratory Medicine of Yale University in the '90, and life being life, it may be not that easy. I hope I’m wrong here.
