Convert from BSD Make to GNU Make file

Does anyone have experience trying to convert a BSD make file to be compatible with our gnu make?

We do. I was looking into what it would take to replace it with the BSD version since ours is GPL.

is netbsd make compatible with freebsd make? there is already a bmake (from netbsd) in haikuports.
