I remember back in the early 2000s, all software developers working on console emulators always had a version of their programs compiled for BeOS R5. Those were good times.
Now I can’t find all those latest versions.
Do you know any links or online archives that have something?
For BeOS, check Pulkomandy’s archive at
Unfortunately few were distributed with sources.
If your goal is to play those games on Haiku, some of these emulators have a libretro version. Also, support for most games, handled by emulators of this era, is included in MAME nowadays.
If you are looking for console emulation, I would suggest to stick to Haiku 64 bit version. You have mednafen advanceMAME and MAME available.
Mednafen is a very capable emulator: it emulate almost all 8 and 16 bit consoles (not sure about 32 bit ones, never tried).
If you are on 32 bit, you have less options: only advanceMAME.
On both architectures, you also have LibRetro, but personally I prefer standalone emulators.
BeNES “Pretendo” is being worked on by its author, so we might see it on Haiku soon enough
Edit: oops, mis-remembered the name of the emulator.
That’s lit! I never thought I’d stumble upon a legit candyland.
