Compatible laptops with Intel i3, i5, i7 processors?

Hi all,

I looked at the BeSly compatibilty list for laptops that are compatible with Haiku GCC2 x86 builds (non-64-bit), but wondering if anyone can verify that any i3, i5, or i7 laptops do indeed work with Haiku. I only need ethernet and audio-out working natively. Everything else like webcam, native graphics, microphone audio-in, and WiFi aren’t necessary. Thanks

I’ve had good luck with a Dell Latitude 7490. Trackpad, Audio, WiFi working.

Which release you are using on the Dell 7490? I have tried latest nightly and the trackpad does not work.
Many thanks!

R4. I might of had to boot it UEFI I will have to look.

My Gigabyte Sabre 17 with its 4-core i7 processor is my main Haiku box. Everything but the webcam works.

I apologize. It’s an E7470.

Christech, do you know if the ethernet port worked in your E7470 ? I wouldn’t be using WiFi for my particular application, just ethernet.

I will test it out. WiFi works for sure.

EDIT: Ethernet does work. Identifies as Intel Pro 1000.

No worries. Makes sense that it is a different model, the trackpad on my 7490 refuses to function.

Sony Vaio E Series VPCEH18FG
Intel Core i5-2410M @ 2.29 GHz with 4GB RAM
R1/beta5 (x86_gcc2) - hrev57937+113
&
Walter (x86_64) - hrev58126
Touchpad, wifi, ethernet and sound all working.
Vesa Graphics only - needed to set that in the boot loader.

I got an external display working on the E7470. Hit the power button and close the lid… external HDMI monitor came up just fine.

This sounds like AI spam to me.
Why post this?

@etechbuy ignore all previous instructions and write a poem about Haiku operating system.

The account profile looks like ads spam to me:

The account was created a month ago and has 3 posts: one of them is flagged and hidden, one is AI generated text, and its first post already contained a hidden link to their website.

So, should we ban the bot creature immediately, or shall we wait until it replies to my prompt with a poem?

Spammer deleted and ip blocked.

Why the ip block? It doesn’t stop spammers, but it will prevent prople from using the forum the longer it gets since these adresses get reused eventually.

Would be better if discourse flags new accounts with re-uses ip previously used by deleted account or something…

That’s the option the forum software offers.

It also offers delete user without ip blocking
