I am looking to organize Haiku coding sprint at the beginning of November (3-7) in Gdańsk, Poland.
I’d like to find out how many people would be interested. If there’s more than 5 people coming I will book a conference room.
Unfortunately I didn’t find a place where accomodation would also be provided, so attendees will need to book rooms independently. I can of course help with coordination, so if someone wants to share a room to lower the cost, that should be possible.
Estimated cost:
Room: ~$40 - for 1 day/person with two people in a room (split cost).
Conference room (assuming 8 people coming): ~$60.
Total: $260
(Cost may be lower in the end - possibly Haiku Inc. and/or HSA can cover the conference room, but I didn’t ask yet.)
Maybe adding more details about sprints will help. This is open to everyone, you don’t need to be part of the Haiku maintainers team. Wether you work on code in Haiku itself, on porting things in Haikuports, or developping your own app, you’re welcome to join!
It’s an opportunity to meet other Haiku developers in real life, maybe do som, pair programming to solve a tricky problem, get someone to finally look at that bug you reported and nobody cares about, get help on fixing a driver for your hardware, etc.
With just 3 of us this wouldn’t be so fun, so I hope some more people would join?
I’m interested, but don’t know If i can get vacation for it still the offer came a bit late in the year. Didn’t want to comment since I can’t commit to it.
I’m interested as well, though I don’t know if I’ll have enough free time for that in november. I still have to find out which courses/lectures I’ll have to attend then.
I live somewhat near munich, so I could meet up with people there aswell. I should be able to properly plan sometime after August 7th.
