Cherry JW-8600 Mouse: No button click recognized

Hi,

I recently bought a new Mouse, a Cherry JW-8600 which uses a 2.4 Ghz wireless USB receiver. The mouse has some weird behavior in Haiku:

  • Moving the mouse works
  • No button clicks are recognized
  • It shows up as three mouses in input preferences

The mouse works on other devices running Linux, Windows and Mac.

Any suggestions? What kind of information I should provide when opening a ticket for it?

This is not neccesarily wrong. The listed devices there are logical devices, not physical. In this case your mouse exposes three usb devices… or some other device is exposing some. In any case, you can open a ticket, the best start is a syslog, the output of listusb -v and the usb_hid descriptor reports matching your device you can find in /tmp

(In any case, you can always just open a ticket without these things. we will then simply ask on the ticket for them)

I don’t know about the three mice, but the failure to notice the buttons is due to this mouse reporting position and buttons separately, in different USB events.
