Are some icons on the boot scrin lit up ? or are they all still grey ?
Anyway, I guess you installed the Alpha 4.1 release. You may try getting a nightly build image from http://www.haiku-files.org and try booting that instead. Maybe your issue is already fixed.
If that still doesn’t work, please open a bugreport at dev.haiku-os.org with information about your hardware (from Linux, use lspci and lsusb with the usb key plugged in).
You may also try enabling on-screen debug output to see if there is something interesting in the log. To do this, press and hold either space or shift just before the boot screen appears. You’ll get to a menu where you can try some debug options. The on screen debug output will allow us to see what’s going on. Take a picture of it and include it in the bugreport.
Thank you PulkoMandy. I downloaded a nightly build, I was indeed using 4.1 alpha.
The first 3 icons light up almost instantly, then gets stuck on the hardware(?) icon. The one that looks like a PCI card. I tried unplugging my G27 pedal set, thinking that might be it.
Here’s the result of ‘lsusb’ and ‘lspci’, for what it’s worth. I started playing with safe mode, tried saving output but Haiku couldn’t read any HD’s or USB drives (FAT32) I inserted, so no logs yet.
Can you suggest some safe mode options? There are so many! Either way, I’m not getting any further with boot. Sometimes no icons light up, other times it gets stuck on device icon. Tried both Alpha 4.1 and nightly builds, from USB and CD. I would try Virtual Box, but I’m guessing that’s even more complication.
