I want to use goodsearch.com to generate funds for Haiku. I tried searching goodsearch.com for Haiku, inc and all I got was “please do a valid search or your account may be suspended”. I tried haiku inc and got nothing. I tried haiku and got two results: Haiku Patterson, NY and Haiku Elementary School (not relevant of course). Is Haiku Patterson, NY Haiku Inc?
Yes, that’s the one: http://www.goodsearch.com/nonprofit/haiku.aspx
We name it “Haiku, Inc.” just to differenciate it from “Haiku project”. But the legal name of the org is just “Haiku”.
Thanks pulkomandy.
I added goodsearch to chromium browser in linux mint. When I do a search no results are listed. It is not because nothing is found because simple searches have the same result. I also tried with Firefox in the same OS and the same thing. I will try with WebPositive as well. I am just wondering how I can get searches working in linux since that is where I spend most time. In the setting: “url with %s in place of query”, I have: "http://www.goodsearch.com/search.aspx?keywords=%s"
For “keyword” I have: “gs”.
For “Add new search engine” I have: “GoodSearch”.
Does anyone have any idea why no search results show.
The correct URL is (search-web, not search.aspx):
http://www.goodsearch.com/search-web?keywords=%s
You can also try this so you don't need to login, but I'm not sure if this still works:
http://www.goodsearch.com/search-web?charityid=949749&keywords=%s
I tried both url’s. None worked. I’m still not getting any list of search results.
I also tried in Qupzilla on linux mint. No search results there either. I have not been able to try WebPositive yet because a number crunching application is taking its time in Boinc. If I reboot into Haiku a lot of work gets lost. Its a problem with the way it saves results.
I don’t get any list of results for goodsearch in WebPositive either. The page does not say “nothing found”. It is just blank after the search box.
I tried with Qupzilla to search with goodsearch. It is working with Qupzilla in Haiku. The only problem is goodsearch hardly finds anything unless it is the most basic search or just a single word and sometimes nothing is found even then. At least I know it works even if it is not finding anything. It says nothing found.
I do not think goodsearch is attractive enough to draw people into using and raise funds for Haiku. It is supposed to be based on Yahu search but Yahu seems to work much better. I suppose it is restricted to searching sites that pay with advertising.
Searching for “haiku” at www.goodsearch.com and search.yahoo.com gets me exactly the same results, in the same order. However, I get different results at fr.search.yahoo.com, which searches in French.
I have just tried using goodsearch again with qupzilla in haiku. It is strange, I haven’t done any changes and have just booted into haiku from the last time when I used goodsearch successfully, in that it did search. Now it is not working. I was just going to try and reproduce the results of pulkomandy searching “haiku” but nothing is working. All I could try searching “haiku” was with yahoo.
