I just wanted to make a quick announcement here that I enacted the last of the planned R1B1 architecture support changes yesterday.
Going forward, we’re going to have two “supported” installation media:
- Haiku 32-bit Hybrid (x86_gcc2_hybrid)
- Haiku 64-bit (x86_64)
This target for R1 gives us a nice exit strategy around BeOS binary compatibility post-R1. BeOS binary support is simply aligned to our “32-bit release”. It also leaves our post-R1 future open for 32-bit BeOS binary compatibility layers in the 64-bit image (if anyone can ever figure it out).
I’ve updated the nightly download page to reflect this, and to make the recommended images a little cleaner and better described: https://download.haiku-os.org
