Board Style; Signature

Kurtis, the website is “insanely great”… Thank you for the tremendous effort. Geez, this is nice…

I’ve found two apparent issues:

  1. My signature is not appearing in my messages;
  2. Changing the “Board Style” setting under Profile has no effect on the appearance of the forum pages.

testing signature

hm, it must be missing from the forum template skin… I’ll have to fix that when I get home too =P

and as for changing the look of the forums by selecting a skin, I have it set to override with this skin because the others aren’t working correctly =)

Yeh knowing me I proly disabled signatures … I’m not a fan of them.

The current themes was a “temp” theme placed up awhile ago. We’ll be eventually adapting it to look more like the home page - but it does require a lot of original graphics to be made - that either kurtis or stu or both will need to work on.

We also need to work on the avatars.

i was gunna upload some calvin and hobbes avatars, but michael said we shouldn’t use any avatars at all, so I just never uploaded anything

yeh it was me :stuck_out_tongue: … I’ve now switched signatures on and I also turned the avatar system on too.

Hmm, now that various people here have expressed their personal aversions to signatures, avatars, and emoticons, I’m inclined to stop using all three and revert to an ascetic mode with minimal visual distractions…

This is not to argue that the newly-available options should be revoked…

Avatars can definitely get out of hand - especially when they’re inappropriate content or animated…

Sig’s aren’t that bad in my opinion…and emoticons, I don’t care either way :stuck_out_tongue:

Avatars and signatures are fine as long as there is a limit to how big they can be. Emoticons are stupid, but some people seem to like them.

I don’t ever actually click on the graphic emoticons… I just type it on the keyboard and it converts it automatically… I guess I could “disable smilies” to prevent it

I don’t mind regular ones, i just think animated gif smilies are kinda dumb… text shouldn’t be littered with little gifs all over.

I somewhat agree with you there - I like plain-text emoticons much better than the stupid graphic ones…

I think i’ll turn that option off in my profile
