Well, there are two things I don’t understand about this:
- Why is it so difficult to analyze the text and grasp the meaning of what I wrote?
I didn’t ask for everyone to vote—only those who agree with the request.
- What is the point of having a voting feature in the ticketing system, then?
Isn’t it meant to show how many people want the same change or agree that a specific problem needs fixing?
I didn’t campaign for my request;
I simply wrote that it would be great to turn a few API calls – which are currently hidden from us, ordinary users, and not directly accessible – into a single command…
…and to have a directly adjustable parameter for this function, in the one and only storage management tool, rather than one that can only be set when formatting the partition.
Most people only visit the ticketing system when dealing with their own specific issues; they might run a search before opening a new ticket, but they likely don’t check if others have already proposed the features or improvements they are looking for.
Instead, they just post about it on the forum.
Well, I chose to submit an official request, and I wrote on the forum to let people know I had done so.
I suspect there are people who have only just learned that voting on such matters is even an option within the ticketing system. For a long time, even I didn’t know.
People are constantly told not to post on the forum but to open a support ticket instead. Now that I’ve done exactly that – and then posted on the forum asking those who agree to show their support by voting --I feel a bit disappointed; after all, I did exactly what we were urged to do when we previously voiced our observations solely on the forum.
If the developers – or those responsible for delivering solutions via the ticketing system – are somehow bothered by this option, why don’t they just remove it?
Is it because they don’t use it anyway, so it doesn’t matter that it’s there?
So, should we report issues or not?
I’m left feeling a bit confused by all this; with this two-pronged communication approach, I really don’t know where we stand.
