Can anyone explain the version confusion (to me at this moment) of BeShare?
In HaikuDepot is v3.04. There the project page points to HaikuArchive - BeShare, but the code there is v2.35. The actual v3.04 code used in the recipe comes from http://web.ncf.ca/au829/BeOS/BeShare_3.04.zip
Why don’t we have v3.04 at HaikuArchives?
Where do we fix bugs etc.? Surely not in the old, unused code v2.35 at HaikuArchives, right?
IIRC, initially 3.xx branch was WIP and was not supposed to be released at large scale. Work stopped on both branches but, at some point, 2.xx started to cause problems. In state, 3.xx was already fixing some of these and was considered a good enough alternative.
You will have to ask AGMS, but if I remember correctly, he decided to promote 2.35 because that version still runs on BeOS and was more stable at the time.
