BeIA SDK dump

Hi all - I just dumped all my BeIA SDK tools, images and files here: beia-release : Be Incorperated : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive. I remember a few asked after them when I was giving a demo a few years back. Enjoy!

I hold no rights and I guess they are there until someone decides otherwise. They are 20+ years out of date, so I guess no one will care? Who knows…

If you want to play with it, feel free to ask questions and I will answer what I can. I for sure got it running in PCEM. I suspect someone could repackage the tools to work with Haiku. My only concern would be the drivers for CFS and the CF card, but a 32bit version of Haiku should be able to handle it.

Thanks!

Some screenshots from a Compaq IA-1, and an image made with the sdk, running on a Nexterm thin client.

Hopefully the way you make the images is pretty easy to follow. If you don’t crush them you will have something akin to BeOS with a slightly different API. If you crush them, you will save loads of space, but making new exes is non trivial because you then need to use the same dictionary to make the crushed version. It was always a bit messy.

What would be nice is to pull everything we can in to Archive.org so that we preserve as much as possible. I’m happy to upload anything anyone has.

Oh - I found this guide I wrote on BeBits wiki is still accessible vi wayback:

https://web.archive.org/web/20080509161602/http://wiki.bebits.com/page/BeIACreatingBuilds

I have pasted that info on to the bottom of the Archive.org page.

@DLazlo had a load of stuff too, including later versions. I hope he is still around? I haven’t heard from him in years.

This thread on BeGroovy is also a very useful resource:

Also, lots of names I remember… RepairmanJack, Minox, Shintaro, Deej!! Wow. I forgot about most of these guys and I wish we could have a reunion somehow.
