I have spent the greater part of 10 hours trying to figure out why wifi is not working with my Atheros (AR2413) PCI card. I have read the online guide, followed it exactly and it does not work. I remove the WEP and the wifi works fine. However it is unrealistic to expect that my wifi will be unprotected.
I have gone on IRC and a few others who have helped me also have had trouble with atheroswifi.
Any suggestions? Or should I just wait for WPA/WPA2 to be supported?
Try with 64-bit WEP first since that would be the easiest. Once that works, try with 128-bit WEP. I do not believe 256-bit WEP works with Haiku but you can try to see.
I have tried all of your suggestions and it still does not work. I have tried ASCII and hexadecimal passwords. I will have to pick up a Ralink card to see if it works.
my workaround was to disable “broadcast SSID” in the wireless router and be an open AP- no security, then give it a new name (something like hYv495) and then make a clickable shell script saved to the desktop with the “join hYv495” parameter.
Having no security works fine. There seems to be a problem with the password. I haven’t had much time to play with it but there is something broken with WEP for sure. Will have some time to work on it this long weekend.
WEP is no longer working on my T41. Therefor I created a ticket with a syslog attached. Please add your findings to the ticket since it looks like we are having the same problem.
