After installing from HaikuDepot, trying to open any of the apps results in a loaded app with NO windows.
Yep, i’ve had that with ktorrent too, launching it from terminal reveals that it needs a session of dbus running to start up, so you need to type first:
export $(dbus-launch)
Hit enter and then type /path/to/appname
I’ve also built 3 apps from source, namely: kget, kpat and palapeli, all 3 refused to start up without this hack.
Maybe @Diver knows the reason why and hopefully has the solution?

Is there a way to get rid of dbus as a dependency at least just for the start up part of the apps
Only some apps can be configured to not use dbus. Calligra doesn’t need it for runtime but it crashes on save without dbus being installed.
Does not fully load on my rig…just see the icon in the desk bar, but no windows, even if I use ‘dbus-launch’ to start it (Words, Plan, Sheets, Karbon, Stage, etc.).
Does launching it from Terminal reveals any other info?
