There seems to be many (ex) Amiga users among the BeOS/Haiku Community  Its the same for me, I stayed by the Amiga until 1999-2000 something then I went to BeOS. When BeOS went down I went to Apple and have stand by Apple since then. I have tested OpenBeOS and Haiku a couple of times over the years but it didnt catch on. I did a test of Haiku last November and Whooow, now it was/is mature enough!!! Since then I am a daily Haiku-user  ! I use FS-UAE under Haiku to run AmigaOS3.2  So now I get the best of two worlds

I just read that Amiga article in the Guardian. I’m sorry to say that i think it is dreadful! A space filler.

He had nothing valid to say about the Commodore Corp’s long & drawn out self destruction. A book could be written on that one.

A seemingly purpose built self destruction intent on killing any chances for our beloved Amiga systems to survive & thrive into the future. a future that they truly deserved.

I didn’t read any comments that may have been related to the article, on the Guardian’s page. I expect that someone would have straightened out the author on a few things. If they actually lived through it, of course.

The Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore is a great read.

The author is a hack unfortunately.

But I think it was more anecdotal rather than a history lesson. He mentioned the ZX Spectrum, arguably a more popular system by sales volume, but gave no real context either (yes I know it wasn’t really popular in North America, but then Apple, Atari 8-bit and Tandy CoCo weren’t popular here.)

I certainly don’t remember the Amiga being uncool. It was always seen as better than an ST and cooler than a Archimedes in the UK. I think he is incorrect.

Can someone help to build Aros one 64 bit on top of Haiku ?

Is this similar to full screen mode/workspaces for apps in Mac OS? (This is something I use constantly and love and I don’t understand people who don’t, ha ha)

Great to hear it works for you now, it is almist there for me, i just need multi-monitor, Disk encryption and webcam support before i can use haiku as daily driver (hw-accel 3d would be nice)
