This is just a teaser… and I haven’t done much testing yet to see what works and what doesn’t, but with the help of Claude, I’ve built wine to handle 32bit calls on a 64bit Haiku… without patching the kernel. Instead, made a custom kernel add-on.
Nice! That’s what I’d love to see, hopefully one day I can play WoW on Haiku. I’ve played on a lot of private servers that only have a 32-bit client, so this is big for me.
Can you send me a link to Wow so I can test it? So far UnrealTournment Windows 32bit works great with nebula, but mouse input is not working 100%. Thanks
High Res textures seem to have a bug somewhere, maybe wine, maybe Haiku, maybe something else. Normally they render a lot better. That’s why certain map textures look off.
There’s also some minor hiccup in rendering. Some of that is probably because I am recording audio/video while playing, and some it is just normal full screen mode issue. Maybe need to tune down the graphics settings.
The 32bit add-on for running 32bit wine on 64bit Haiku is on the same github, just read the readme and follow the install instructions.
If any of you want to test your own 32bit apps, try to save debug info for me if something goes wrong, and send me a ticket or message me here is probably better, I check the forums more than I do github tickets.
A lot games I thought I would be able to test myself, but some of these games take up a lot disk space and well, maybe easier if you test yourself and we try that route first.
