Yamaha 724

Hi,
One of my old computers (which seems extremely new when Haiku is running) is an AMD athlon 64+ at 2,7 GHz placed on an Asus M3A78. The onboard audio card (HDA) works natively, but in my cellar I found my old PCI Yamaha 724 sound card, which works in BeOS as there’s a specific driver, so I tried to copy it on Haiku.
I copied the driver to home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin
and …/dev/audio/old
…/dev/audio/joystick
…/dev/audio/midi

but nothing appears after restarting Multimedia Services nor even restarting the PC

Is the driver compatibility with BeOS still supported? or multimedia drivers are changed so much that there’s no chance to see this card work under Haiku?

If I recall correctly BeOS binary driver compatibility was recently dropped

Aren’t you trying to run a 32bit driver on 64bit haiku? Maybe that is the reason for the driver not being loaded?

Supported under OSS (i.e. opensound).
Test: Blacklist the HDA driver and install opensound.

Thank you all for your answers

Yep, 32 bit here

You don’t need to disable the HDA driver if the card is not HDA compatible. So, just install opensound.

No, driver compatibility is not available anymore.

Is there a way to recompile the old drivers?

Don’t know for sure but I think that those “eventually” sources share the same fate as the BeOS kernel.
