Replicants are one of the coolest features in BeOS. There is one place where a replicant is missing however. Ever since I first opened the Workspaces program in BeOS R5 I’ve wished I could permanently cement it to my desktop. The entire view really should be a replicant.
yup, I thought the same thing once I: knew about workspaces, and also knew about replicants.
I’d welcome seeing a test version of the workspaces app as a replicant. Thanks for making the suggestion.
I can’t run BeOS right now so I can’t post the script, but I made one which uses hey to position the Workspaces window, set it to accept single-click and to remove the window border.
It was the closest I could get to having a replicant with what I had available.

on bebits there is a cli version of workspaces that can do the same things without using "hey"

About replicantness, reading the talkback Axel said "The Workspaces view is managed by the app_server directly; there can only be one of them at a time, and this take
over is specified by a window flag.
There is no way to provide this functionality as a replicant, sorry."
