I’ve downloaded the Haiku-distro from the Build-Factory and replaced all libs and servers from my BeOS Max installation with them. After that BeOS couldn’t boot again ;-(
Which components of BeOS can be replaced by Haiku components without making the installation unbootable?
Of course, I don’t use Haiku on a productive machine, I’ve just replaced Linux with BeOS on my old Desktop
I’ve always wondered why modern OS’ are eating up the hardware’s performance until I found an old BeOS demo video by accident. After that, I’ve installed BeOS and now can’t wait on Haiku R1 and its successors to give me a modern and fast OS.
The same here … can’t wait to test / try Haiku R1 or at least Haiku pieces !!
can’t understand either why when i’m under WinXp the CPU cooler is always working ! Why when i burn i can’t do anything in the same time, why when i watch a divx under window, it sometimes lagging without any reasons (and i’m using a P IV 2,4 Ghz with 512 DDR !!!) instead of a smooth watch with BeOS (on a P III 600 Mhz with 512 SDRAM)…
Divx lagging may have something to do with your video card or the driver, since it should use the hardware features available to speed up the video draw rate. What kind of video card do you have?
And as for the cd burning problem, I have no idea what that’s about… I hate that… My CPU usage goes up to almost 100% every time I burn a cd.

Sounds to me like your burner is in PIO mode. Have you/can you enable DMA on the drive?
