One miss is just a miss. several probably means that they forgot to add BeSly repo.

Well, how are new people supposed to know about other repos if they aren’t included in a new installation? But it’s OK that this isn’t done directly because of “responsibility for content”, even if some repos have existed for a long time and are clean.

It’s not a mistake on my side, because I’m trying to test everything which is written on the blog.

The main reason why I’m not adding this repo and all the software available, is that I was unable to install these packages for an obscure reason :

error

I made the hypothesis that the packages were outdated,
but maybe I’m wrong and in that case there’s something to fix.

My setup is Haiku R1 Beta5 (64 bits) so nothing really special.

If you need more details, I can give it to you for fixing this.

Oh, ok thanks for the info, I’ll have to take a look at that. Thanks

ImageMagickGUI installed and launches fine on 64bit here.

ImageMagickGUI launches here, but won’t open any files. Looks like the bug that crept into yab when an optional parameter in the FILEPANEL command was made compulsory. I still have some programs here that need to be fixed for that one.

this should fixed for long time, but the counter “round” could be a problem, because are this counter be a part of yab past last update

I take a look about that

I’m curious, is the “free” aspect required for you? In the past I’ve rented a vps for about 3€ per month which didn’t really hurt me. And managed website hosting can be even cheaper.

In any case, something like prose can be an improvement indeed (I’ve not thoroughly checked it out however, so can’t comment on it’s quality.)

I am interested however in the “new” version beeing accessible with an optional dark mode, if needed I can also write css for this. : )

edit: as additional feedback, the icons you have in the haiku style would be even neater if they had an alpha channel properly applied, so they stand on the page on their own.
And also to properly link to articles when clicking on them when they are the intro image for an article.

Thanks for the feeback.

I already own a paid hosting, but I first thought I couldn’t add additional accounts.

The good news is that I can add new accounts:)
So my current situation is better : I have full access for the future website in order to put any solution I want.

In my current list :

  • Bludit which is full PHP and easy to setup (I need to review if it will fit all my needs)
  • Prose : I need to check how it’s working
  • Others solutions if identified

It will take a little bit of time, because - for instance- the current Bludit themes are not as I want, but the good news is that it seems customizable (to check how hard it is)

Once done, I should be able to have a clean solution and a better website I hope

For an example of a prose.sh blog, you can check out mine at https://blog.ebruce.dev. I very much like the default theme, but theming is possible if you like, it’s just a matter of uploading some CSS.
For more info on prose.sh, check out prose · pico.sh

Missing an article on Lazarus/fpc  Wanted to post a toot on it and link it to an article, but couldn’t find one yet.

Yes I’ve done a quick check which is working fine but the article is not yet ready

Got an update in the works to bump version to 3.8, should be up today.

After some reviews, I will use Bludit

Below is a template to check how it can look like with a dark theme:

That looks really good, clean and simple, I love it :+1:

i like the current one too

Moving forward on the hard part : the migration from WordPress to Bludit !

It’s on the good way :

  • All images retrieved
  • All articles retrieved in XML
  • I’ve got so far a partial script to clean an XML article into something to paste in Bludit

Will try to automate as far as I can, because the stock is around 100 articles to migrate.

No big issues so far with Bludit and I’m really surprised by this nice solution which relies only on PHP.

Nice bonus : customizing a theme is not well documented but it’s not that hard.

Already looking much better than the wordpress site!

Color contrast is a bit bad though, I reckon you will get around to that. And If not I’ll send a patch by mail :slightly_smiling_face:

I must say I am quite impressed by Haiku Insider by now, Initially I confused it with desktopOnFire which I stopped reading quite quickly because of AI generated falsehoods there.

Keep it up. : )

Our poorman server does not render PHP-pages, what resolution you found?
I could not do some serious Webpage with HAIKU back some years ago!
Do you use the online-editor then?
But nice work, I used Drupal back then, but not with HAIKU!
