I’m having trouble updating my Haiku VM (in VMWare Workstation Player on Windows).
When I run “pkgman update”, it tells me what updates are available, and starts downloading them, but then just…stops. Sometimes it makes it to 10% or so on downloading the first package, sometimes it gets further like 30 or 40% on the download, and occasionally even finishes the first download and then hangs on the second. The OS isn’t frozen; just the pkgman downloads.
I’m having a hard time determining if my Haiku install is screwing this up, or if there’s something wrong with the repo server (maybe needs a good reboot…or kick ;-)).
Any ideas? Thanks!!
Did you check to see if your disk is full? I had that problem on my VM install.
Which hrev is the VM? There was a networking issue that was fixed fairly recently that could have caused behaviour like this. You could also try changing network cards in the VM config.
It has many gigs of free space so it’s not that I’m running on a 32gb virtual disk. Thanks!
It was hrev49912…but on your recommendation, I switched the network type in VMWare from NAT to Bridged and it worked on the first try.
Not sure what the root cause was…I’ll switch it back to NAT and keep an eye on it. I know there was a VMWare update fairly recently so it may have introduced some strange interaction with Haiku.
Thank you so much for the help!
