I discovered Haiku quite a while ago, and now that I’ve learnt a whole lot more of programming (I’m a computing student, in France), I’d really like to help out a little.
So first I’ll have to put up a development environment. And I’d also like it to be usable with never hardware, WiFi, etc. so Zeta looks good, but is it possible to replace Zeta’s modules to test Haiku’s like it is possible with BeOS 5? If not, then I’ll stick with BeOS Max 5 for developing, I guess.
Second question is : what area needs the most help? I’m not very skilled in C++ for now, but I know Java and Ada95 very well, a bit of C too, and I’m used to object-oriented toolkits, so I guess I’d be able to learn quite fast.
Maybe something not too big would be better for starters, I wouldn’t break much that way
I’ve got probably the perfect task for you, then: the Interface Kit. ATM, there are 4 guys working on the app_server, which still needs a lot of work. The controls still need some finishing. Each one isn’t all that big, and there is documentation to tell you what each function needs to do. There’s just not enough people to work on it. What do ya say?
That sounds pretty good ! Whom should I contact ? The Application Kit/Interface Kit page doesn’t mention a name or e-mail address.
Besides, what about my first question ? I need to get a development environment up and running before I could do anything useful. Do you guys use Zeta or BeOS Max 5 for development?

Thanks for replying!
You need to contact me. I can be reached at bpmagic [IGNORE THIS PART] at columbus dot rr dot com if you need to e-mail me. In fact, e-mail me and let me know if you have any problems that you need help with and/or what you would like to work on.
As far as development environments go, it’s pretty much your choice. My setup is Max Edition V3 along with the Subversion package from the this site, Oliver’s new gcc, and the jam from the source tree. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use Zeta, but I also haven’t spent much time running it, either. HTH

I think that you can’t compile the tree succesfully under Zeta. Many people reported some issues with it.
It’s most probably not a Zeta issue (or, at least, not just a Zeta issue), so if someone can fix this…
