Split Screen

Just installed the newest nightly and the screen is split. About 1/4 of the left side of the screen appears on the right side. The remaining 3/4 of the screen (the right side) is on the left. So, when you drag your mouse off the left edge it appears to be coming in from the right edge of the screen.

incompatible video driver? known problem?

No idea what the onboard chipset for this motherboard is. found it laying around in the back.

Hi mbond,

I’d guess it’s graphics driver related, too…
You should file a ticket for it. Make sure to include all the info you can, see ReportingBugs (see “syslog” and “Hardware issues”).

I had encountered the same issue with Alpha1R3 on Thinkpads T42 and T43 (the regular 14.1" LCDs). This may help narrowing the nature of the issue.

So that you know, Thinkpads T60/T61, T4x0, and T5x0 do not exhibit this issue.

I have not tried again on T42/T43 with Alpha1R4.

The ‘stable’ Alpha 1 R4 doesn’t exhibit this problem.

However, as soon as I click on the screen in the ‘stable’ release it kernel panics.

The nightly seems to function properly, with the exception of the split screen.

Select fail safe video mode If you had to activate the option Use fail-safe video mode, you can set resolution and color depth.

I installed an ATI card and the screen is now displaying properly.

The onboard card seems to be finiky at best … its likely an issue with it.
