Appearantly there are spammers around again… In my forum I implemented a cheap hack to fight automated spammers that create accounts and post replies.

I think the trie-and-true way to prevent automated account creation is one of those little graphical letter/number deals where the user has to type what they see in the image (which is smeared to prevent OCR)
