Something for the future

I don’t know if it’s valid to discuss about it, but all my problems summarize in just one thing:

This is a user or system-wide setting?

I haven’t followed the steps of the Preference App Team, but I think this should very consistent and clear on how it would be controlled and presented to the end user and developers…

I know this wasn’t part of BeOS R5, so it’s not part of Haiku R1… but maybe Haiku R2, multiple users and the whole thing, this would be needed.

Doca

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the meaning of Preference Apps, too

On BeOS, the settings are both user and system-wide as there is no multi-user ability in BeOS.

/boot/home/config/settings/

is where the configuration files are usually kept.

So for Haiku R1, it will be the same as BeOS R5.

Multi-user is probably very high on the R2 list though.

Sure, HR1 primary objective is to reproduce BeOS R5. I was wondering how we all could prepared for the future, when everybody migrate to Haiku
(Maybe I should had posted on the Suggestion box, but please folks don’t forget this idea. Would be very nice to see it done :D)

(wrong forum to post, I’m sorry… I think it should be on the feature request/suggestion box - you could move it to there?)

Is Haiku going multi-user at some point?
