Hello
Desktop PC, intel Pentium D 3GHz, 1 GB ram, AWARD BIOS, SATA HDD. After exploring the ‘Live CD’, gave the shutdown command. For a long time (15minutes) it showed the message ‘shutting down’ but did not. I switched off the power
Is this shut down issue a case with my hardware or a known bug in the beta2 release? I did not install on HDD due to this shut down issue. I would like to do a native install on HDD and try out.
Can some body guide as to the cause for not shutting down?
Try hrev52009 and see if it shuts down properly. That was the last working build for my particular system.
I don’t see hrev52009 in https://download.haiku-os.org/nightly-images/x86_64/
Hopefully, this one should do https://s3.wasabisys.com/haiku-nightly/x86_64/haiku-master-hrev52001-x86_64-anyboot.zip
Anything earlier than hrev52009 works on my Dell. The immediate changes afterward were reverted, yet that didn’t fix the issue for me. It’s in this ticket: https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/14205
I am getting the same problem on my System76 Gazelle with Beta2 installed on my internal SSD, however it only happens half the time unless I transfer a large number of files between the SSD and the drives.
The files seem to transfer okay, yet many times the shutdown takes a while. But worse I have seen the shutdown box show up, I go to bed and it is up the following morning, I think it also corrupted some files, but luckily I keep backup on an external drive.
