Problem using internet bank in Haiku

Hi!
I have successfully installed Alpha 2 on my Acer Aspire One.
Sound, WiFi, graphics, battery monitor… everything just works!
Except for CodyCam, which cannot connect the data stream to the video window…

Now, as I am starting to use Haiku as my only OS on this computer, I want to be able to use my online bank.

Problem is the following:
I go to my bank’s website.https://www.postbanken.no/

I enter my number (similar to what Americans call a Social Security Number) and press “Bekreft” (Confirm)

The message I get is that my computer does not have Java, so I must log in using a code chip.
This is normal. I do it all the time in Linux when I am on computers whitout Java.

I press on the oval code chip image to the left.

This is when I expect to be able to enter the six digit code that the chip provided.

Instead I get the following error message:
Feilmelding
Du må taste inn fødselsnummeret ditt, 11 siffer. (Feil nr. 1101)

Which roughly translates into:
Error
You must enter your social security number, 11 digits. Error number 1101

But I already did! How did the browser or web site forget that?

I have tried the same several times. It works as expected in Linux, but not in Haiku.

Any ideas, like browser settings or something?
I haven’t changed anything, so everything is default settings.

The browser is WebPositive. It came with the operating system.

WebPositive is still in development and will be for awhile longer before final version is ready.

Try your banking with BeZillaBrowser (which is really Firefox 2).

In terminal, type installoptionalpackage -l to get list of installable packages.

The version of WebPositive which comes in the latest nightlies of Haiku may have improved the situation. Would be cool to know in case you are able to test a nightly. Sorry it doesn’t work out of the box.

Pardon my Googling skills, but I can’t seem to find any nightly builds of Haiku. According to haiku-files.org, they will be available again shortly.

You can find recently build packages here :

Apart from Your conversation

I was generally interested in your laptop -> Acer Aspire One
Can you provide some more information about it. What model is this? I would love to buy a laptom that works with all components on Haiku. My MSI wind isnt so good for that [ lack of wifi, sound only in external speakers… ]

btw. cody cam will not work since it suppoorts only very old hardware.

It’s blue. The model is Acer Aspire One ZG5.
The sticker underneath says that the wi-fi is Atheros AR5BXB63.

This is the output from “listdev”

I now use Haiku as my only os on this laptop.
The coolness of it makes me use this laptop more than the others. I now only use them for things like YouTube, when I need that.

Back to the bank thing…

I downloaded the nigtly build of WebPositive, but it will not work.
When Expander unpacks the zip file into /boot/home/Desktop (which is default), it does unpack.
But when I double click on the executable, I only get "Could not open “WebPositive” (Missing symbol: _ZNK9BLanguage2IDEv).

I have no idea what that means. But it seems that installing software on this OS is not easy…

Haiku is constantly being developed meaning things are being changed all the time and sometimes affect other applications.

You can see here that stippi (Stephan) says not to use newer Webpositive on Alpha 2.
http://dev.haiku-os.org/changeset/36789

I believe this change made Webpositive not work on Alpha 2 anymore.
http://mmlr.dyndns.org/changeset/493

Change above affected Haiku & Webpositive and was not part of Alpha 2.

If you want newer Webpositive, you either:
a) on Alpha 2: revert back the change I point out and build your own version of Webpositive (or get someone else to do this)
b) on Trunk: download, build latest Haiku trunk which will include more recent Webpositive package.

In the next 1 to 2 months, nightly images will be available and you can upgrade with those much easier.
