No sound working in haiku (modern computer)

hello everyone. i just installed haiku yesterday, and my computer is very new one

so obviously with it being new somethings wont work, like trackpad and screen resolution

those are fine, but for some reason my sound is not working at all

whenever i click the sound icon it says “mixer not found” and i cant use it

i tried plugging in my headphone and it did nothing, then i installed a package called opensound but it also did nothing

so i am asking you how to fix this pls help

(info about my pc)

i have a laptop which was made in 2024 or 2025. the laptop only has Haiku installed. the laptop is UEFI only and BIOS/CSM is unavailible. the sound card worked fine on linux and freebsd but not on haiku

From my experience running hardware from 2024/2025 usually a lot of things won’t be supported but I’m pretty sure more sound feature are supported in nightly or when beta 6 comes out

You could try removing open sound or see if you have compatible headphones that work on Haiku

im not sure what you mean by compatible headphones, but after removing opensound and restarting the media twice i still do not have sound. should i update to a nightly?

You are probably just out of luck on this machine, but if you want help, we need a lot more info than this is a somewhat modern laptop.

Manufacturer, Model, soundchip hardware.

Paste at least the output of listdev and listusb in the haiku terminal.

For your information, sound on haiku is working on a lot of devices, including

Lenovo x200,x201,x301,x220,x230,T430(s),T460(s),T470(s),T14gen4_intel

I would try doing that, but it not %100 guaranteed that it will fix the sound, what I did is just use a external peripheral for sound and mouse support so I would recommend that but you may not have sound support at all until Haiku make upgrades to the sound system

i have done that. but i cannot find the hda driver in this list. however the OSS driver is showing (/boot/system/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/oss/oss_loader

If you install opensound, the default hda driver is automatically disabled. If you want to try the hda driver, you need to uninstall opensound.
