New Haiku user - Software questions!

I just got Haiku, mostly for fun, as I found BeOS a nice operating system.

As there is almost no software bundled with the OS, I wonder if all BeOS
apps are compatible, and how to gain more software for Haiku, are there
any “main file archive” website or something?

Thanks!

Is there any mirror of files available on the now-defunct bebits.com?

The developers are in the process of getting automatic package builds from the haiku ports recipe repository.
There is a test server you can add to haiku depot. Or you can build the packages from source using the haikuporter tool.

From Applications, bring up a Terminal. From command line type in HaikuDepot. You get a nice list of stuff you can install.

As far as we can tell that archive has been lost [unless anyone can persuade Karl to make it available somehow].

But a reminder that BeShare is still active, and several people are making a lot of stuff available there.

err…

From Applications, bring up HaikuDepot directly. Why indirect this through Terminal?
