To me, BFS plays the most fundamental role in making BeOS what it is. But the uniqueness of how the file system is used is also the source of my greatest doubt that Haiku will make it to my desktop. I have all my files stored on a server, mounted over NFS. Now, I would love to let Haiku replace my current desktop system, and with unix on the server enjoy the best of both worlds.
The problem is that since all the interesting files would not be on BFS, some of the brilliant BeOS features would not be available, most importantly the BFS queries.
Are there any plans for live queries between hosts, and would anybody else be extremely überhappy to see the related protocols supported on Linux and BSD?
