Maestro-3 driver

I would love to see someone resume work on this driver. I downloaded it but was unable to get it to work on an n400c.

Theres a couple of problems with the ESS Maestro/Allegro/Canyon 3D family of cards.

The first one is the complete lack of specs. ESS did a driver for FreeBSD, but it used a hackjob to get at the DSP, and not into it.

All drivers for all OS’s except Windows for this card use a nasty hackjob to get at the DSP, as ESS won’t let you know how the DSP works. Its annoying.

Theres also the serious problem that its nothing like other ESS cards, which do have BeOS drivers, all opensource. So theres nothing to base work off that already does something similar

I’ve got a HP Omnibook 6000 with the same card, but the screen hinge is busted so I can’t do any work on it.

Does anybody knows if ESS Maestro-3 works under Haiku. Seems like there has been no updates since 2004 however it is nicely working under linux. This is the only information I could find to the compaq n400c which I would like to use with haiku.

seems like maestro 3 should be working - according to Ticket #3490
