Is there plans for Chromebook keyboard and trackpad drivers?

I have an Acer Chromebook I Corebooted, it runs Haiku almost perfectly! But the thing that actually makes it usable as a laptop keyboard and trackpad doesn’t work at all.

Chromebooks seem to have this issue sometimes even in Linux, often you need to recompile the kernel.

It seems they are non standard for some reason?

I never understood why the manufacturers trying to avoid USB based input devices on mobile computers.
They do everything, like using PS/2, I2C, WMI, whatever else, where they can spare 0.1 cent.
I am probably too pragmatic and cynical, but i think the hq of those manufacturers would make a nice bonfire.
But it is also a user error: nobody should buy things like that.

Maybe it would be good to have a recommended/avoided Webpage for similar hardware problems?

There’s @apgreimann’s Haiku Computer List for that.

Also, BeSly has a System Analysis Tool.

For me it is not simple enough!

use: hardware that works or worked on.
avoid: hardware that will not work and no help in sight.

Thanks for the shout out, my stuff’s still down til R1/beta3 :slightly_smiling_face: Hoping everyone will like the new version when it’s out
