How to make kernel debugging information output to the screen or serial?

After the OS is running, it will go directly to the GUI.
How you can see the debugging information when loading OS?

You can “Enable on screen debug output” in the boot loader options, see the userguide topic. It may be more practical, however, to have a look into /system/var/log/syslog when the GUI is up.

I think the earliest output only goes to serial though
