How to build a boot image for PPC

Hi,

This might be newbie questions, but …
I am thinking to start some developing for Haiku on Pegasos.
In what shape are the boot loader for PPC / Pegasos?
I heard that AxelD did a lot of work for it for BeGeisteret a year ago.

Also, is there a toolchain for LinuxPPC or do I need to use a x86 computer (running BeOS?).

Axel is probably the best person to confirm this, but the PowerPC port of Haiku is out of date. I would be surprised if any of it built at all for a PowerPC target. There are currently a few people looking at getting the PowerPC port moving, but I wouldn’t hold your breath if you planning to use it as your daily desktop OS

In regards to the toolchain - yes a specific toolchain will be needed to build Haiku, but a patchgcc need a patch writing for it.

If you are interested in helping out there is an IRC channel on irc.freenode.net called #HaikuPPC where a few people occasionally meet up, and there is a mailing list here here - http://groups.google.co.uk/group/haiku-ppc.

Check out my blog - http://www.h2o.demon.co.uk. I was working on PowerPC stuff for quite a bit and I describe some of the issues I had tyring to get things built.

Thanks,
