No recent discussion because no one has worked on it. It needs cooperation between the audio and video driver and I don’t think anyone has started anything about it yet.
Blockers: more developers needed.

There is some documentation about HDMI audio in the intel graphics documentation. It needs taking into account the audio bandwidth when computing the HDMI clock, and then routing the audio to the right place. I don’t remember the specific details.
