Ive tried Haiku several times and I’ve never been able to get it to load due to it not supporting my i810 graphics. I see someone here, http://www.freelists.org/post/haiku-development/Is-Intel-810-Video-Driver-Needed,32, said they were working on an i810 driver for haiku. Anyone know how that is coming along?
There is another post here about i810 issue you might want to look over. Are you able to use VESA driver for Haiku?
I noticed, when going into Safe Mode & selecting fail-safe video mode. That for the resolution there was an option for Standard VGA. This might work for you. I hear VESA driver does not work with standard modes on i810 because of older video BIOS.
You can also try a Video BIOS update which may update the VESA BIOS on that card (I could not find any list of changes made to the bios).
You can try BeOS i810 driver which may or may not work on Haiku.
I’ve tried the vesa and vga options before and they didn’t work. Also just tried copying the beos driver to Haiku and its also a no go.
Did you also create symlink for i810 driver in Haiku? Driver by itself without proper symlink will not work.
You can ask on mailing list or try to contact that developer directly and ask him if he ever finished the i810 driver. Otherwise that leaves video BIOS update.
If you feel brave, you can use the download link I gave, off Intel site, to get i810 & i815 Drivers & Video BIOSes. You can flash your card with newer i810 BIOS (might support VESA 2 but I did not see any release notes to confirm this). Little risky because if interrupted or unfinished then your video card will not work. I have flashed video BIOS on Matrox Millenium & ATI 8500 cards myself ( I use DOS boot disk to boot to DOS to do my flashing of BIOSes - proper way to do it ). Check your video BIOS date & version first to see if older and by what difference.
