Handling Hard Disk in Laptop

I have been a ubuntu user for some time. Until that system killed my hard drive. As i found out, most, if not all, linux distrubutions, has problems with correct handling of hard drives. The problem is: linux parks disks too often, hence thay get damaged. Any info on how is hard disk in Laptop handled by Haiku?

I don’t see much difference myself and you have to remember that Haiku is not mature yet and there is MANY things that need to be optimized. Having said that I haven’t really noticed anything bad about the disk behavior or particularly bad battery life (though I have not timed it yet).
