Haiku on an msi s6000

Hi,

I’m new to haiku so I downloaded a copy of alpha 4 from the main page and installed it on a second partition on my laptop. Everything freezes when I try to do anything that “seems” i/o itensive. The cpu fan kicks on high and I’m unable to do anything. How can I troubleshoot this issue? Are there any log files that I can look at? Also, cpu stepping seems to not work. When I launch the application from the menu it shows my cpu at ?? mhz.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Haiku

First thing I’d suggest is to download and try it with a nightly. Alpha 4 is (by now) old, so give it a go with the latest nightly. Get it here: http://www.haiku-files.org/haiku/development/

If the problem persists, please file a bug report over at https://dev.haiku-os.org/

Cheers.

Thanks, I downloaded the latest build. It still froze up so I enabled acpi and few other things. It hasn’t frozen yet but the laptop still runs hot compared to Debian.
