Hmmm… can I post something about the game kit status ? Michael ?
You said it would’ve been announced at WalterCon, but it looks like it was not.
Do we have to keep the secret ?
Sure - you can speak freely!

Eheh, ok,
I’ll let some screenshots talk for me:

If you haven’t yet understood, this is Snes9x (a SNES emulator) running against our libgame.so (which links against our libmedia.so). I just fixed a crashing bug the other day, and it looks like it’s completely working .
Currently our libgame works in conjunction with the R5 app server (don’t try it on Zeta or Dano, it can’t work). As soon as our app_server is ready, we’ll need to “port” the communication code (just a few lines, it won’t be so hard)
Snes9x uses BDirectWindow, (which seems to work 100%), and the game kit sound classes.
other than that, the only thing which was remaining in the game kit is BWindowScreen, which is completed too (Carwyn Jones and I did some tests).
That said, this does not mean that the game kit is production quality code, but at least we’re feature complete.
Who do you have to thank for that ?
Carwyn Jones (also known as Caz), for filling the holes in my BWindowScreen implementation (more than half of that class) and fixing some problems with BDirectWindow,
Marcus Overhagen and his media team (for the haiku media kit, which our libgame uses to produce sound),
Marc Flerackers, who found out the communication protocol between the R5 app server and libbe (and helped me many times with his experience),
Christopher ML Zumwalt May, for the game kit sound classes,
and me, obviously, for writing BDirectWindow and half BWindowScreen
Looking good, indeed!
excellent work, keep it up.
Jack Burton and Haiku Team Rulezzzzzzzz!
What do you mean FINISHED??? Where’s the OpenGL drivers! :?
good stuff guys !
Sweet!
Does this mean I can play my Yahoo games now?
Really, though, does this mean Corum III or CtP would work fine?
BTW, I could donate my copy of Corum III if needed. I think I’m done playing it.

I’ll check tonight, I do know that Corum III will never work fully on Haiku as the cut frames are in Indeo 5, and no opensource codecs exist for Indeo 5, and hence support is highly unlikely. Although, Marcus did say “Find me an opensource Indeo 5 decoder and I’ll port it” on the IRC channel, so anythings possible…
Kev, nice bit of wit of there with the “Yahoo Games” (I’ll let ya know when that happens…)
Hats off to the Haiku game kit team!
Keep it up!

Most probably. That was a test I’d like to do, though my copy of Corum is somewhere at my father’s home.
Anyway, I’m not sure if Corum III uses the game kit classes or not.
