First experiences in beta1: collecting unexpected behaviours

I using Virtualbox 5.1.2, mouse is working, screen stop refreshing and need to run the mouse over, I can use the ftp server to transfer files and online service for copy and past. I see in the past was an attemp of writing/fixing the guest addition (, and I tired to compile the code , but after install kbuild the script complain about gcc is too new (version 7 instead 3.x/4.x).

You guys think it will be an attemp to update the code, see the Beta1 is available?

Thank you

EDIT: more info here (

AFAIK virtualbox guest additions are only available on HaikuDepot in x86 flavour…

So …need to wait for the new GSOC?

The code builds in x64 but it doesn’t work. I think that something heavy must be fixed, here, if nobody didn’t already.

maybe when the 32 bit legacy layer will be ready, you could try the x86 package even if you’re x64 in your box…

Thank you, TheClue

Something bad and something good.

Thinkpad T520 observations:
* R1 Beta 1 enters KDL when booting from optical disc (DVD) as the boot loader cannot find the bfs volume. This occurs for both 32 bit and 64 bit variants.
* By the way, the same occurs with HRev 51911 (CD; 32 bit and 64 bit) and HRev 51877 (CD; 32 bit).
* I’ll check with my older R1 Alpha 4.1 (CD) if/when I find it…
* Everything is fine with my much older R1 Alpha 3 (CD).
* Note that the T520 boots HRev 51911 in either 32 bit or 64 bit from USB Flash Drive without issues.

HP Probook 450 G3 observations:
* R1 Beta 1 boots perfectly fine from optical disc (DVD) in both 32 bit and 64 bit variants.
* Note that this was with Safe Mode enabled and Safe Mode Graphics.
* Will test the default boot mode later.
