Hi @leavengood. Agree with your contentions about exfat. Do you know if your suggestion about https://github.com/relan/exfat gained any traction, a ticket or commendation to GSoC etc?
I just purchased a 2TB Eaget M61 USB for around US$ 100 to use with Haiku and it seems to work pretty well and is actually 2TB (Not the usual Chinese Scam) and mine seems to run coolish despite other reviews. The problem is I just assumed Haiku did all FAT types, but as @PulkoMandy has mentioned in several threads, Haiku does exFAT: READ only.
and that seems to be current for R1 Beta5 I am using.
Given the USB is “super speed” and all the other AliExpress claims, I am dubious about reformatting in case they are doing something “clever”. Also could make return/warranty void. The partition type displays as “Windows NT. OS/2 IFS, Advanced Linux” in DriveSetup.
From Ext4 partition not mountable - #16 by BiPolar it seems ext4 is an issue. I am thinking using NTFS because it is journaling, I have had good experience with it and most PCs I interact with are Micro$oft. Journaling does give you a speed hit however.
I am minimal computer literate, so looking for guidance and hints to move forwards at this point. What did you end up doing?
