Telnetd is not only some random port,but it’s properly integrated with Network preferences so that it can easily be enabled and disabled without having to mess with the Terminal.
I think that’s the correct way and therefore I’d like telnetd to stay part of Haiku.
If any bugs are detected in the future,I can look into them and try fixing them,like I did with this CVE.
Yes,most people should use SSH nowadays and most probably already do,but for those who still need or want Telnet,I don’t see a reason to make it needlessly more complicated.

Integration in Network prefferences does not correlate with it beeing In Haikus tree or not
