Cute and informative

haiku logo on the menu button. why waste it? a way to to use it maybe would be to keep the logo always the same but with every new mayor version to change the color of the leaf… silly, i know, but that way one could always say with one look to the desktop witch version is running on that specific machine(very useful also in screenshots)
and all the hundreds of haiku (version)s would be like leaves falling in the autumn, covering the dead grass (of m$ products) with beautiful colors… ; )

Color doesn’t tell me much, but a version number indicator next to or on top of the logo would be nice, particularly while it is pre-release.

Daltonism?

Heh. No, I’m not color blind. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s just that the information is useful, and a color would have to map to some table somewhere mapping colors to versions, and so I was just wondering if it’s worth the hassle.

I guess if version identification is determined by color, that’d be better than nothing. A version number spelled out might be an eyesore.

Then there’s the issue of consistency in the identity of the OS.

Or perhaps you were suggesting that some people are color blind… ?

I was thinking of having new color for the leaf (feather?) for each new full version. That’s maybe 1 - 2 colors in year, max. Like, the ‘blue version’ is beta, ‘green version’ is version 1, orange/yellow is version 2 and so on… Not too confusing, imho. And all the other details could be in the ‘About This System…’ box, that way we won’t also neglect people with daltonism…

ps. I’m sorry if my english is too engrish… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: It’s quite an effort for me to express what i think in english. Maybe because sometimes i don’t know myself what i want to say…
