Constant errors on boot

For some reason my Haiku install fails to boot almost every time I start the computer.

The strange thing is that the error varies and it is usually resolved by rebooting two or three times.

Please see below the sort of messages that I am getting.

When this happens the keyboard does not respond so I need to resort to a hard shutdown.

Can someone please tell me if there is something evident there?

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry for cutting off the images. I thnought they were correctly framed

Seems always “media_server” related. Can you disable audio hardware in bios and try ?

I did not upload all the photos. Sometimes it is PS/2 related.

I’ll check disabling the audio hardware in BIOS tomorrow.

I still got two kernel errors on boot with hd audio deactivated.

What version of Haiku is this? If not a nightly, please try a recent nightly build.

Next thing to check after that is where the fault address is coming from. It looks like we are winding up with corruption/garbage at strange places here. It could indeed be related to audio or maybe some other driver…

1 . use safe mode loader
https://www.haiku-os.org/docs/userguide/en/bootloader.html
With some hardware, you’ll have to make sure USB keyboards are enabled in the BIOS.
On computers that use UEFI for booting instead of the classic BIOS, you need to use the SPACEBAR instead of SHIFT.

  1. in Terminal
    checkfs /boot

@waddlesplash it is the latest nightly.

The beta doesn’t work in this system as it hijacks one of the CPU cores and keeps it at 100%.

I will have to turn on the paging.

The errors are strange and refer to different lines and devices.

I turned off HD audio but got the second set of errors that are in my reply.

@kim1963 when I select safe mode, which I have done before, it has always started, but then I can’t connect to the internet as it doesn’t load the wifi drivers (I think).

When I’m near the computer I’ll start the paging to see if I can get more information.

This is a pure BIOS pc from 2008. So no UEFI and a very basic set of options.

Does this computer have multiple CPU cores/threads? What happens when booting with SMP disabled?
